Not All Leather is Created Equal
“Genuine leather” is not a grade of quality. The term can include leather that has been heavily processed, coated, or even reconstructed from leather fibers and other materials.
At JH Fine Leather Goods, we use full-grain leather — the most natural and intact part of the hide, with its original grain, texture, and character preserved.
Because the surface hasn’t been manufactured to hide its natural beauty, full-grain leather ages differently. Over time, it softens, develops a rich patina, and becomes uniquely yours.

Jill began with a pair of leather earrings in 2018. One sold-out post became market weekends, then handbags, then a small team of women making every piece together on Iowa’s historic town square.
We are still small on purpose. Every hide is handled by real hands. Every edge, stitch, and piece of hardware gets the time it deserves.
